Hello everyone, I’m back!!! Did any of you actually notice that I didn’t post last week, probably not but last week was probably the most stressful week of my life since I had my college orientation as I am a first time Freshman. Okay enough about me, last week was also the Reading Rush and I know I said I would read seven books but I only read three of the seven books. So yeah… That happened!
The first book I read in this Read A Thon was Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. This was the last book of the Grisha Trilogy so I can’t talk about this particular book too much, but it was so good, definitely a five star read. This book series follows a teenage girl named Alina and how she finds who she is while relying on friends to help her. The ending of this book was definitely predictable but I loved the characters so much I just didn't mind. And I know I just keep rambling on and on about this book but I’ll quickly leave you one of my favorite quotes : “ It’s good to doubt Saints. Vladim, and men” (45).
The next book I read was Book by Book by
Michael Dirda. This book was basically a book about books and how it changes people and the way they see the world. I had to skip a couple of chapters because they didn’t go with my life at all and those chapters were super boring, but there were also some really interesting passages. I did have to give this book two and half stars just because it didn’t go with my life besides the love of books.
The final book I read during the Reading Rush was Hocus Pocus And The All New Sequel by A.W. Jantha. This book was super entertaining as I always loved the movie and watched it every year during Halloween time. The first half of this book follows the movie… which was about Max’s family which moves to Salem after living in LA for Max’s whole life. This book is about how Max accidentally wakes up the Sander-Sisters and his sister and Allison had to find a way to keep Salem safe and make sure the sisters go back to Hell. The second half of this book follows a certain relationship's daughter (If you’ve seen the movie you know who I’m talking about). This book is about having the daughter repeat the history of her parents despite them trying to keep her away. This book also has a lesbian representation as Poppy has a crush on another girl in her class. I loved this book so much and gave it four stars. It's only four stars because in the second half of the book, the parents had a very drastic change which felt just a bit off.
Those are the three books I read during the Read-A-Thon! I really did enjoy the reading, and it helped clear my mind during the stressful moments. Has reading or writing ever helped you in a time in your life that was super stressful? Please let me know if you want to! See you guys later!
