Reading In College

Hey People, it's nice to be writing to you again. Before I start with the actual post I want to ask everyone, How have you been? Hopefully everybody is staying safe and reading a lot! I just started college in the last week so I wanted to write about how I read during that time.

College has been super stressful so far as I’ve had to balance life and school all at the same time. I ended up finishing about 200 pages this week but they were from two separate books that I’ve been reading for about a month. These books were Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and DreamCatcher by Stephen King.

Here are some tips I used to read this much during this first… but this is just regular school work and no exams are coming up.

Tip #1: Have a Schedule! How I do this is by keeping a Bullet Journal where I write down all of my classes and their office hours and lecture hours. Then I would write down all of the work I had to get done that day. Then I would finally write down the work that two in the next two days. After writing down all of those components I would see where I could schedule breaks in between work.

Tip #2: Read Before The Lecture! It's always smart to show up early to a lecture to make sure you're there on time. When you get there make sure you take out all of your stuff that you need for that class. Then you have a little bit of time if you want to read a little bit before class.

Tip #3: Finish Your Work Early! I know you might be able to do this because of lectures but if you can finish the paperwork early in the morning or by afternoon time then you have time to read at night.

Tip #4 Wake Up Earlier! This is for morning people and if you don’t have any super early

classes, luckily for me all of my lectures are in the afternoon. Reading when you first wake up can help you wake up your brain. It’ll also help you start your day with something you love doing.

Tip #5 There Are Always Going To Be The Weekends!

Even if you don’t get a lot of reading done during the weekend. The week could be really busy if you have a lot of if you have a lot of school reading to do or if there is an essay due that week. The weekend or any off days will give you more time to read and or relax. This definitely is a way to show self care because for most of us bookworms reading is a way for us to relax.

Those are the five tips I used or will be trying to use throughout my time at college as this was only my first week. I hope all of you have a good day!
