O.W.L.S Read A Thon
Hello, People that read my Blog, today I will be wrapping up what I read during the O.W.L.S Read A Thon. First let me explain what this Read A Thon is: It is a month long and you try to follow the prompts that go with the career that you choose from, and BookRoast and you can watch the announcement video on YouTube to learn more.
For my career I choose to be a journalist/Writer, and for that career I had three prompts for the three different classes: History of Magic, Muggle Studies, and Arithmancy. For each prompt I read a different book.
The first class was a History of Magic and the prompt was a book that starts with a “I” The book I read for this prompt was a book I read for my AP Lit class : The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. This is a classic comedy, that discussed Victoria England in a satire tone. In this book it has a major theme knowing the true you and about the mask you put up to people. I was laughing out loud during this book, especially when the main males, Jack and Algernon.
The second class I took for my O.W.L.S is
Muggle studies which was read a contemporary. The book I read was a final book in a series and it was called: Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Hans. With everything going on right now with my senior year basically being cancelled it was nice to read about someone else senior year. I really enjoyed the reading experience and it made me laugh, cry, and smile.
My last class in this Read A Thon was Arithmancy which the prompt was, read something outside of your favorite genre. The book I read for that was The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mictch Albom. This book followed an old man named Eddie whose death is being counted down to and then you get to see the five people he talks to in heaven. This book is really different from most of the books I read because I don’t read a lot of books about people who are older, since I mainly read young adult novels.
Those were the books that I read for the O.W.L.S Read A Thon. Let me know if you participated and what you read for it? How has your reading been in Quarantine?
