Mid-Year Freakout Tag

Mid Year FreakOut Tag

Hello Guys, this is going to be me jumping on a trend and doing the Mid-Year Freakout tag. But first let me run down on what I’ve read this year so far and how I’m doing on my goal. I have read 28 out of the 50 books I wanted to read, which means I’m 3 books ahead of schedule. And fun info I’ve read about 8793 pages this whole year which I find absolutely insane, but this number might be a little off because that includes my audiobooks. Let's start the tag because that's probably what you're here for.

What is the Best Book You read in 2020

The best book I read this year was Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, which yes I know is hyped. But honestly it was just a beautiful story about six friends going on an impossible heist to become rich and live their wildest dreams. This book followed the different POVs of the crows which include Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Wylan. These characters are so different but all of their differences are what makes their team so much stronger.

What is your favorite Sequel

My favorite sequel is Escape from the Isle of

the Lost by Melissa De La Cruz. This book was really fun and it was amazing to get to read before watching the new movie that came out. I really enjoy the characters and how they deal with their emotions and stress because in this book Mal is trying to be perfect so the people want her to rule their kingdom.

A New Release that I’m excited to Read

This book would definitely have to be If it Bleeds by Stephen King. This book is four stories that Stephen King wrote that he never released before. This book was published on April 24,2020 which was really exciting because I really love Stephen King's writing style. I have also been trying to read more Stephen King. Sorry if that was a horrible description I haven’t read much about what each story was about.

Most Anticipated Book for the Second Half of the Year

Yeah… I don’t have an answer to this one! I’m not very good at knowing a lot about new releases unless I’m super into an author. If you have any recommendations please comment below.

What is your Biggest Disappointment?

You are not Alone by Greer Hendrickd and Sarah Pekkanen. This book is about a girl named

Shay and she gets involved with the same girl she saw commit suicides life and that leads her down some really bad paths. This book had a really good concept and I heard some pretty good things about this novel, but the writing style/characters just did not work for me.

What's your Biggest Surprise?

The Bookworm Crush by Lisa Brown Roberts!!! This book was absolutely amazing and in a really surprising sense I don’t read a lot of romance novels but I really connected to the story and the main character. This book is about a girl named Amy and she joined a book competition but she doesn’t have a lot of confidence so she asked Todd (a crush she had for a long time) for help. Their relationship is so beautiful because they both had to deal with their emotions ready for a real relationship.

Favorite New To You Author

Before this year I have never read Leigh Bardugo, so she has really become one of my favorite authors. Her writing is so beautiful and her characters are so real, they have strengths and weaknesses. I will be on a journey to read all of her books.

Favorite Fictional Crush

My fictional crush at the moment is definitely Kaz from The Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. Sorry I’ve mentioned this series so much I just love it that much. Plus Kaz is just amazing although he's violent and doesn’t like to be touched he takes care of his friends and family. He really does care for the people he cares about and you really get to see this with his relationship with Inej.

Favorite Character

My favorite character from the first half of the year has to be Gravity from Gravity by Sarah

Deming. This was the first book I read in 2020 and it was about a female boxer who grew up in a broken home. Gravity wanted to learn how to box because she wanted to take care of her brother and protect him from their drunk mother. She became my favorite character because she cares so much for her brother and she worked really hard to win all the way up to the Olympics.

A Book that made you Cry

A book that made me sob like a baby was The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mictch Albom. This book was about Eddie and what happens after he dies. By the end of the book I started to cry because of all the things Eddie had to go through his whole life.

A Book That Made you Happy

It was actually a book I read for school:

The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. This book was really funny and watching the two grown men fight over food was so funny. Throughout this whole book I was smiling and laughing and Oscar Wilde's writing was just so good because they made the same person so similar to their opposite personalities but it was also very different.

The Most Beautiful Book You have Bought

Six Books I want to Read By the End of the Year

  1. Girl Up by Lara Bates

  2. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

  3. The Infinite by Rick Yancey

  4. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

  5. American Gods by Neil Gaiman

  6. Educated by Tara Westover
