Hello Guys or Gals or Both!
I read three books in January which I'm really proud of because I did have finals this month.
The first book I read this month was kinda of a disappointment because I usually love Amanda Lovelace's poetry. To Make Monsters out of Girls was an okay collection but it wasn't one of her best but she is still one of my favorite poets. This collection was given a 4.5 stars from me. Like I said it was definitely a good collection I would read again, it just wasn't one of my favorites. The format of the actual poetry was really awkward looking for my taste but others might appreciate it more.
The second book I read this month was Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalo, which I also gave a 4.5 stars. This is a second book in a trilogy that followed the same two characters, Audrey Rose and Thomas Cresswell and they were trying to catch a serial killer at the school they were accepted to. The second book was better written the first novel because the story had more character development and had a better twist at the end. When reading it the novel's writing really stood out because each character had a specific voice even the small ones and I could really appreciate this type of writing.
The final book I read this month was The Selection by Kiera Cass, and gave it a 4 out of five stars. This was mostly a romance book but it did get a little bit into the political part of this world. The main character America was chosen for the selection which means she would compete against 35 other girls for the prince's heart. The prince, Maxon, was able to befriend America during this time. This novel will show how they were able to get closer and closer through different occasions. This is the type of a novel that you read when you need a pick me up, to put you in a better mood.
