Hey guys, welcome back to my bookish blog! How are you guys? I hope you're doing good and I hope things are being as good as they can during this time period. Since my senior year of high school is coming to an end I want to start reading more classics for fun during the summer. Here is going to be the top five classics I want to get to!
The first classic I want to read is a collection of fairy tales and it is called The Grimm Brother Fairy Tales. I have owned this book for a couple of years but I have never gotten around to reading the whole way through. These fairy tales are about a variety of things, but they do hold some of the most famous fairy tales like Hansel and Gredtal, Snowwhite and Rumpelstiltskin. They also have a creepy tone to them which makes me interested in reading them.
The next classic I want to read is Animal
Farm by George Orwell. This is a shorter book about animals representing communist Russia. I have never read a George Orwell book, but I heard that his writing is so good. This is also one of the classics that you hear about all the time and it is able to use animals to represent a history story.
The third classic I want to read is The Adventure of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. This is a book about a boy named Tom living by the Mississippi river. This book is set in 1840 and it is just about Tom Sawyer and sometime Huckleberry Finn going on several adventure. I’ve gotten a lot of recommendations to read this book and hopefully I’ll get to it soon!
The fourth classic I want to read would be Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Stevenson. I want to read this book because I think that the message that the author was trying to get across is really powerful. That message is that everyone has a dark side and trying to hide that will only make things worse. This book is about a doctor who has two different sides of the same person.
The final classic I want to try to get to is
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I already have this book on my shelves so I want to get to it soon. This book is set in 1800 in Russia and it follows the main character Rodion Romanovich who is a poor man that is thinking about committing a horrible crime, but you don’t know what that crime is.
Those are the five classics that I want to read soon. Do you guys like classics? What is a genre that you want to get into? Hope everyone has a wonderful day today!
If you are going to read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, you should read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I read it for my AP Lang class, and there was so much to it. But it was funny and entertaining at the same time. A challenge for you: try to read it without analyzing it. Just enjoy it. Bonus points if you do it with all the books. Especially Animal Farm.
